I'm a Birmingham based classical guitarist and have around 12 years of experience as a teacher. After beginning as a private tutor, I gained experience working for the Birmingham Music Service for 6 years in a number of primary and secondary schools across the city. am currently in my fifth year of my current position as a visiting guitar teacher at King Edward VI Five Ways School. During my time as a teacher I have guided pupils through every Grade with an exellent pass rate and have taught repertoire from various exam boards. Along with classical guitar (Trinity College London and ABRSM) I also have experiece in teaching electric guitar (Rockschool, Trinity Rock and Pop) including higher Grades. I've also enjoyed the experience af taking beginners through the ABRSM Music Medals, an excellent alternative to the earlier Grades and a slightly different method of assessment.
While I hold no formal qualification myself on the guitar whatsover, having not had the opportunity to study Grades as a young guitarist, I have a Diploma level playing ability and prior to focussing on teaching full time I had been a gigging musician, having played at various festivals, small concerts, charty recitals, and I had been in demand and well reviewed as a wedding guitarist. I am currently registered/listed as an LCM@RGT registered guitar tutor, I am fully DBS checked, and through both the Music Service and my current employer (The King Edward VI Academy Trust) I have received regular and up to date GDRP and Safeguarding training.

Lessons are either based at my own practice room in Bournville, Birmingham and I can travel to your home, within reason, for an addition travel charge. Fees are payable per lesson, on the day of the lesson, by card only. I've found that fewer and fewer students/parents regularly carry cash, so I've built in a card transaction fee into my prices and have gone cashless. I've also found that this has made keeping track of my income more efficient and can guarantee that I run my teaching ethically and declare 100% of my earnings. With that in mind, here are my current lesson fees:
